Crème Brule French Toast
This overnight French toast casserole has been a big hit every time we serve it. It is a simple French toast recipe that you can make the day before and just pop in the oven in the morning. This French toast breakfast casserole has everything in it including the syrup. If you want to know how to make French toast try this recipe and sit back and wait for the compliments to come in!
Ingredients:
1 (1lb 4oz) Egg bread or unsliced white bread– ends trimmed and cut into ½” –thick slices
3 Cups Milk
6 Eggs
1 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
¼ tsp. Salt
6 Tbls. Butter or Margarine
¾ Cup Packed Brown Sugar
2 Tbls. Maple Syrup
Directions:
1. Arrange enough bread slices to cover bottom of 9×13x2 pan in a single layer. Layer remaining bread, overlapping at an angle, over bottom layer.
2. Wisk milk with eggs, vanilla, cinnamon and salt. Evenly pour mixture over bread.
3. Cover pan; refrigerate at lest 3 hours or overnight.
4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
5. Remove cover from pan. Milk mixture should be completely absorbed by bread.
6. Bake 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
7. Meanwhile in pot over low heat melt butter with sugar and syrup, whisking occasionally.
8. Remove casserole from oven. Evenly pour syrup over bread slices.
9. Bake 5 minutes or until bubbling.
10. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.
Makes 8 servings.
